Much like everyone else at the start of 2021, I got sucked into the Netflix Original show “Bridgerton”. Everything screamed wedding to me as well! The colors, the florals, the romance. It seemed like the perfect piece of media to theme a wedding after. I knew I needed to jump on getting something planned because Bridgerton was going to be a HOT wedding theme. So, I contacted one of my closest photography friends, Caitlin at CSC Photography and asked if she wanted to plan this romantic, Jane-Austinesque styled shoot with me. Of course, she was on board! So the planning commenced. Planning a styled shoot is so fun and being able to see the final product is SO rewarding.
One of the things that I wanted to shine the most were the details. These were going to make or break this wedding themed styled shoot. First, we had to decide on a location. I watched my best friend get married at Cumberland Estate in New Kent, Virginia and I knew this was the venue. The large home and the gardens could have been the filming location for the show. Secondly, we had to get some gowns. When I reached out to Avenir Bridal , they were more than willing to help! Amanda was so helpful, kind, and knowledgeable that it was a breeze! She even sent us out with jewelry and a GORGEOUS tiara to incorporate.
The florals were another detail that we knew were going to be crucial to nailing the theme down. The arrangements that Madi made were stunning. They incorporated those beautiful purples and pinks that just scream royalty in that era. Another important detail was the invitation suite. I knew those could incorporate the big Bridgerton hints that we oh-so wanted. Faith at Woose and Willie slayed with that vibe and even included the Lady Whistledown silhouette.
What is more English drama than tea time? Our table-scapes included pieces from my own collection and from Classic Party Rentals of RVA. Partnered with the delicate donuts from my best friend Emily’s shop in Williamsburg, this set up was the perfect touch of Bridgerton!
Now that the décor was figured out, it was time to actually do this thing! Our models were so amazing and flexible with the whole thing. They started out with hair and makeup. Let me tell you, the second we saw them all finished, I could SWEAR they had just come off set. It was phenomenal. We started off with stations for details. It was so fun to see our team of photographers bring each element to life. After that, we did some getting ready pictures in the Carriage House at Cumberland. Honestly, getting ready at this venue makes you feel like royalty. Then we did some photos with the couple and with our bridal model. It was so fun to get the creative juices going and think outside the box.
Overall, I am so happy with how everything came together and I am even more happy with the photos.
