To fall in love with Clifton Inn is to first learn all about its storied past. Originally constructed in 1799, this colonial-style house was built for Thomas Jefferson’s daughter, Martha, and her husband, Thomas Mann Randolph. Over the years, it would face a host of different owners, each committed in their own way to preserving the historic charm. Today, this Blue Ridge Mountain Inn features 20 rooms ideal for spending the weekend getting away to write the next chapter of your story!
Details of the Grounds
When you book Clifton Inn for your wedding, I highly recommend staying at one of the on-site homes. By renting out an entire house, you are going to have the ideal spot to camp out along with your wedding party. Then, once your day arrives, you will have a picture-perfect spot to get ready.
There are a few great options for your outdoor ceremony. If you plan on having a big celebration, you will adore the Front Lawn. As you exchange your vows with up to 325 guests, you will have the Blue Ridge Mountains as your backdrop. For something a little smaller, try the Croquet Lawn. This lush area offers flexible layouts with enough space for up to 150 guests. For those who want a dreamy and romantic spot for a micro wedding, the Secret Garden is just the place!
Once it’s time for your cocktail hour, your guests can use the Croquet Lawn, where they can sip premium cocktails over lawn games.
For your reception, you can choose from a few different options. The Court Tent is the best outdoor place, offering enough room for up to 250 guests. If you would like to incorporate more people, they can help you find solutions. Inside the house, you will have a few smaller spaces such as the Veranda (capacity of 75), the Wine Cellar (capacity of 20), or the Library (capacity of 18).
Photography Opportunities
With Clifton Inn, the outside is full of gorgeous photo backdrops! One of my favorites is the Secret Garden, where you can celebrate amidst nature. The Front Lawn is going to be one of the best places to get the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the backdrop. I would also recommend the interior of the manor for stylish, individual, and couples’ portraits!
