Known for its grand beauty and timeless charm, construction for this property began in the 1980s to create a manor reflective of Georgian residences from a time before. Though the house was a residence for many years, it made the transition into a venue in 2018. With three floors to explore, this property promises plenty of space to prepare for your special day.
While guests relax on the main floor, your wedding party can prepare for the day on the top and lower floors. With plenty of property surrounding the house, there are multiple locations to tie the knot and start your happily ever after. After you have said I do, get the party started over at the reception hall. Originally constructed in the 1800s, the stables are perfect for any reception.
For the Ladies- Getting Ready
As we all know, getting ready for your wedding day is one of the most exciting parts of the day. Having the perfect place to capture those pajama wearing, champagne popping pictures is quite a luxury. Alternatively, the vibe can really change if you get ready in a make-shift place. Filled with light, the bridal suite at this venue is the ideal location to start your day. Undoubtedly my favorite room on the property, the small details really add up to create perfection.
For example, every southern bride loves the classic bed picture. Squeezed in tight with your besties, this photo is a fan favorite. Therefore the big bed located on the top floor is the perfect fit for the job. Of course, the room has more than a great bed to feature in your wedding gallery. Much needed by every bride, the large floor length mirror makes getting ready a breeze. Furthermore, it is also the best prop for those earring shots. Oh, and it really sets the scene for the beautiful zipping-up the dress shots.
One of my favorite features for portraits at a Great Marsh Estate Wedding is the tiny closet to the side of the suite. This closet is mostly shelves and window but there is definitely magic hidded. Whenever the light shines just right through the window, it creates shadows that are perfect for art. Furthermore, it is perfect for detail photos.
Bridesmaids sing the praises of the ensuite bathroom as well. No more are the days of trying to shove all the bridal parties belongings in a closet. Since the ensuite is so large, there is plenty of room to get hair and makeup done. Alongside the main bridal suite are separate bedrooms. These are great if you are planning to have an extra large party or group getting ready with you.
For the Boys- The Perfect Man Cave
Unlike many other venues, a Great Marsh Estate wedding promises to never leave the boys out! Located in the lowest level, the groom’s den makes the morning a morning to remember! There is plenty of room to spread out and since it is on its own floor, you don’t to worry about any accidental run-ins.
One of the first areas you see in this part of the house is the bar room. This room will have any man in awe as it is the perfect place to pour one for the boys. There is also a massive fireplace to simply relax by. Comfortable chairs make this a great place to hang out before the I-Dos.
Just beside the bar, is an open billiards room. Here, many grooms and groomsmen gather to just play a game and chill before the day gets crazy. Whether it is an intense pool battle or just a casual game here and there, this area is sure to provide entertainment.
Finally, there is even a separate dressing room for the groom to change in when the time comes. Also located on this floor are private bathrooms so that no one has to go up and down the steps all day. Lastly, the entire area has a semi-open concept to it so you don’t have to worry about being cut off from those you care most about.
The Ceremony Location
Undoubtedly the most important part of the day is the ceremony. It is the main event and it certainly should be treated as such! Ceremonies are held at the back of the estate for a Great Marsh Estate Wedding. Looking out at the sprawling open fields, ceremonies here are certainly a beauty. Couples can choose to embellish the site as their heart desires (This ceremony had florals by LoveBlooms DC ) Either way, your guests will be comfortable in their gorgeous white chiavari chairs.
This ceremony site can fit 200 guests and is easily accessible for everyone. Guests can park in the lot cl ose by and easily make it to their seats. For guests with hard mobility, golf carts driven by staff are available for transportation to the reception stables. The stables are a short walk through a tree lined path, making it incredibly easy to transition into cocktail hour after a Great Marsh Estate Wedding.
The Reception Stables
Just a short walk from the ceremony area and manor, the stables are the main hub for reception time. Cocktail hour begins outdoors and is set up as the perfect mingling grounds for your guests. The great thing about the location is that you and your new spouse have plenty of privacy around the venue for those just married portraits!
Cocktail hour takes place at the back of the stables. With lawn chairs, firepits, yard games, and even a rolling bar, your guests are busy enjoying the grounds while you sneak in some pictures!
When the time comes, the party begins indoors. This renovated 1800s stable is the perfect place to dance the night away. Amenities such as AC, bathrooms, bars and a coat room make receptions easy and comfortable. The dance floor is right in the middle, located underneath a spectacular chandelier. Overall, the stables are perfect for any reception.

Photo Opportunities
There is no limit to backdrops for photos at Great Marsh. Besides the picture perfect bridal suite, there are many rooms in the manor that make perfect vignettes for your album. Outdoors is a whole other story. Any areas is fair game, as long as the lighting is in its favor. My favorite spots are the stairs, the front yard, and the fields beside the stables. Variety is a guarantee when you have a venue this beautiful.
